In a tragic incident in the Manai village of Jodhpur's Sursagar police station area, two sisters allegedly committed suicide on the day of their wedding. The deceased, identified as Shobha and Vimla, were both professional teachers. According to local authorities, the incident occurred late at night while the family was preparing for the marriage ceremonies scheduled for the following day.

Details of the Incident

According to family sources, the wedding preparations were in full swing, and the ritual of 'Ghee Pilana' had been completed just a day prior. Late at night, the health of both sisters suddenly deteriorated. Family members rushed them to a private hospital in Pratapnagar, where doctors declared them dead upon arrival. The news of their sudden demise has caused a wave of shock throughout the locality.

Allegations by Maternal Relatives

The maternal uncle of the deceased sisters has raised serious allegations regarding the circumstances leading to the incident. According to his statement to the police, the sisters' engagement had previously been fixed in Bhinmal, which was later cancelled by their paternal uncle. A new marriage had been arranged in Jaimla village near Pokhran. The uncle further claimed that the family was preparing for a quick cremation before he intervened and informed the police.

Police Intervention and Evidence Collection

Upon receiving information from the maternal uncle, the Sursagar police and high-ranking officials reached the spot to secure the scene. Forensic teams and police officers collected evidence from the residence to determine the sequence of events. According to officials, the timely intervention prevented the immediate cremation, allowing for a formal legal procedure to commence.

Post-mortem and Ongoing Investigation

The bodies of Shobha and Vimla have been shifted to the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination. While preliminary reports suggest death due to the consumption of pesticide, the police are awaiting the final medical report for confirmation. The father of the deceased, Deep Singh, works as a laborer. Authorities have registered a case and are currently questioning family members to ascertain the exact cause behind the extreme step taken by the sisters.
