Mumbai Attack: In a significant development related to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the Mumbai Crime Branch conducted an intensive interrogation of prime accused Tahawwur Rana, who was in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in April 2025. According to police sources, many important information in the case was already on record. A senior police officer said that Rana stands by his old statements, but his radical ideology is clearly reflected in his conversation. During the interrogation, Rana made many important revelations, which further clarify the conspiracy of this heinous terror attack.'Trusted' person of Pakistani armyRana claimed in his statement that he was a trusted person of the Pakistani army. He revealed that he was sent on a secret mission to Saudi Arabia during the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq in 1990. This claim shows his strategic importance to the Pakistani military establishment.Rana told that he had completed MBBS from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi in 1986. After this, he was posted as Captain (Doctor) in Quetta. He also served in many sensitive military areas of Pakistan like Sindh, Balochistan, Bahawalpur and Siachen-Balotra sector.Relations with 26/11 conspiratorsDuring interrogation, Rana admitted to knowing other conspirators allegedly involved in the 26/11 attacks-Abdul Rehman Pasha, Sajid Mir and Major Iqbal. All three are Pakistani citizens and are believed to have played an important role in the conspiracy of this terrorist attack. Rana's knowledge of many languages like Hindi, English, Arabic and Pashto makes him an important link.Revelations on David HeadleyRana also made many shocking revelations about David Headley during interrogation. He told that between 2003 and 2004, Headley had participated in three training courses with Lashkar-e-Taiba, although he does not remember the names of these courses completely.When asked about the idea of opening the first immigration centre in Mumbai, Rana claimed that the idea was entirely his own and not Headley's. Regarding the money sent to Headley, Rana said that the amount was for business expenses. He also admitted that despite having an office in Mumbai, he faced many challenges in getting clients.Declared deserter from military serviceDetailing his military career, Rana said that during an assignment in Siachen, he suffered from pulmonary edema, due to which he had to remain absent from duty for a long time. Due to this long absence, he was declared a deserter and dismissed from military service.Study of Headley's statementsThe police also said that Rana has thoroughly studied the statements given by David Headley in the court. His information and answers make it clear that he is well aware of the nuances of the case.
