So that renewable energy increases

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) plans to invest Rs 70,800 crore in renewable energy projects in Tamil Nadu. TPREL, a unit of Tata Power, has signed two MoUs with the Government of Tamil Nadu to accelerate the state's renewable energy and the country's clean energy transition. Giving this information to the stock markets on Tuesday, the company said that the MoU was signed on Monday.

What is in the first MOU

Under the first MoU, TPREL will explore opportunities to develop 10,000 MW of renewable energy projects in areas like solar, wind, hybrid (solar and wind energy projects at one place) in the next five to seven years. These renewable energy projects will be located on 50,000 acres of land in Tamil Nadu. These will have an investment potential of about Rs 70,000 crore. The company said that this initiative has the potential to create about 3,000 green employment opportunities.

This is the second MoU

The second MoU is to increase the investment commitment to Rs 3,800 crore for setting up a four GW solar cell and solar module plant in two phases at Gangaikondan in Tirunelveli district. On July 4, 2022, the company had signed an MoU, in which the investment was estimated at Rs 3,000 crore. Now there is a proposal to increase it to Rs 3,800 crore. A rise in Tata Power shares may be seen on Wednesday. Tata Power shares were up marginally on Tuesday. The company's shares closed at Rs 340.10 with a rise of 0.38 percent. Whereas during the trading session the company's shares also reached Rs 344.85.
