In a significant press conference held in Patna, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav addressed several pressing issues concerning the state of Bihar, while notably sidestepping questions regarding the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand. When journalists sought his reaction to the student movement that has gained national attention, Tejashwi Yadav chose to defer the matter, stating, "We will talk about it.., while " His primary focus throughout the briefing remained on the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar and the tragic murder of Bunty Yadav.
Focus on Bihar Law and Order and Bunty Yadav Case
Tejashwi Yadav utilized the platform to highlight what he described as a surge in criminal activities across Bihar. He specifically brought attention to the Bunty Yadav murder case, which he claimed was a direct result of the victim's courageous stand against local sex rackets, while according to the RJD leader, Bunty Yadav was targeted and killed because he raised his voice against illegal activities. He alleged that there has been significant negligence on the part of the police in handling this case. Tejashwi mentioned that it was only after he facilitated a meeting between the victim's family and the Director General of Police (DGP) that some arrests were made, though several suspects remain at large.
Financial Aid and Educational Support
Expressing concern over the dire financial condition of Bunty Yadav's family, Tejashwi Yadav announced that he and his party would provide comprehensive support, while " To provide immediate relief, he handed over a check of 5 lakh rupees to the family. On top of that, he demanded that the state government provide a government job to Bunty Yadav's wife and ensure a completely impartial investigation into the murder case.
Criticism of State Governance and Rising Crime
The RJD leader didn't mince words when attacking the state government's performance. He pointed out that despite having two Deputy Chief Ministers, the administration seems to have no time for the common people. He cited a recent incident in Dinara where a person was shot simply for demanding his rightful wages. Tejashwi announced that he and other party leaders would visit the victim's family the day after tomorrow. He also raised the issue of a firing incident in Siwan, questioning who authorized the use of AK-47 rifles there. He mentioned that his party would take up this matter further. Also, he brought up the murder of an EO where an MLA's name had surfaced, questioning why no encounter or strict action was taken against the legislator in that instance.
Jharkhand Student Movement Context
While Tejashwi Yadav avoided a detailed response, the student movement in Jharkhand continues to be a major talking point. In response to the ongoing protests, the Jharkhand government has expressed a willingness to hold talks. The protesting students have already formed an 11 member delegation to represent their concerns in the upcoming discussions. Tejashwi's brief response of "will talk tomorrow" suggests that the RJD may clarify its official stance on the Jharkhand situation in the coming days.
