WFI Controversy: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has taken a big decision amidst the ongoing deadlock between the Wrestling Federation and the wrestlers. The IOA has constituted a 7-member committee to probe the allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The members of this committee include the names of Mary Kom, Dola Banerjee, Alaknanda Ashok, Yogeshwar Dutt, Sahdev Yadav and 2 advocates.

The IOA had called a big meeting on Friday. According to media reports, IOA said that this is a serious matter. We are going to investigate the matter. During this, the views of all the parties will be heard. At present, no time limit has been fixed regarding the investigation, but earlier the Sports Ministry had ordered Brij Bhushan, President of the Wrestling Federation, to give his explanation in this whole matter in 72 hours. Amidst all this, a reply has been filed on behalf of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Friday. Brij Bhushan's son Prateek Bhushan Singh has given information in this regard.

Brijbhushan will speak in the general meeting on January 22

On the other hand, the statement of Brij Bhushan's son Prateek Bhushan Singh has come on Friday. Prateek said that we are not formally authorized to speak anything on this issue. He (Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh) will address the media on January 22 at the Annual General Meeting of the Wrestling Federation of India. This meeting is going to be held in Ayodhya. We have given our official statement to the Sports Ministry.

This is a fight for our self respect: Vinesh Phogat

Earlier on Friday evening, the wrestlers who were protesting at Mantar once again put their point before the media. Vinesh Phogat, who is protesting at Jantar Mantar, said that she is adamant on her demands. Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has said that this is a fight for self respect. Vinesh said that all the wrestlers are with us. We have evidence against Brij Bhushan. Indian wrestlers will not be afraid. Our constant demand is that Brij Bhushan should be made to sit in front, he should keep his point in the face to face meeting.

Wrestlers have been sitting at Jantar Mantar for three days

Wrestlers have been sitting at Jantar Mantar for three days against the irregularities of the Wrestling Federation. Meanwhile, on Friday night, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur had invited the wrestlers for dinner for discussion. There was discussion till late night but nothing was done.

Yogeshwar Dutt, one of the most famous names of Indian wrestling, won the bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics. He has not said anything in this matter till now. On the other hand, veteran boxer Mary Kom is a 6-time world champion. Apart from these, Dola Banerjee is also among the members of the committee, who is the former famous archer of India. Along with this, Joint Secretary of IOA Alaknanda Ashok and President of Weightlifting Federation Sahdev Yadav have also been kept in this committee.

PT Usha appealed

On Wednesday, January 18, some of India's top wrestlers, including Poonia and Phogat, sat on a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and then made serious allegations against the WFI president and the coaches of the federation. More than a day after this, on Thursday, January 19, IOA President PT Usha appealed to the wrestlers to put their problems before him.

Wrestlers gave their complaint

Following PT Usha's appeal, Phogat, Poonia, Sakshi Malik and Ravi Dahiya, representing the protesting wrestlers, jointly wrote a letter to the IOA, alleging sexual harassment of women wrestlers and mental harassment of Vinesh Phogat. Apart from the complaint, financial irregularities were also mentioned.

In the midst of all this, the star wrestler once again came to meet Sports Minister Anurag Thakur late on Friday evening. These wrestlers met Anurag Thakur at his residence for about 4 hours on Thursday late night and kept their side and also listened to his suggestions. On the other hand, Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh stood by his side and again rejecting the demand for resignation, said that he had done nothing wrong. Brij Bhushan feared political and corporate conspiracy behind this. He had announced that he would hold a press conference at 4 pm on Friday to present his stand on the allegations, but then this press conference was postponed.
