New Delhi: The special cell of the police achieved great success on Monday. DCP Pramod Kushwaha said that the three suspects were apprehended with IEDs (explosives) from Goalpara in Assam. The names of the three are stated to be Islam, Ranjit Ali and Jamal.

DCP Kushwaha said the three suspects belong to ISIS modules. The trio were planning an IED blast at an ongoing fair in Goalpara. After this, there was a plan to do a similar blast in Delhi. These people seem to have formed this group themselves. The rest of the information will be revealed only after these people are questioned.

The suspects were believed to be influenced by the Islamic State.

“We were carrying out major search operations across the city for the last two weeks after we got inputs from intelligence agencies,” said a police officer. A team for Special Cell was sent to Assam.

“They were arrested from Goalpara area in Assam. They had planned a blast in Delhi. But before that, they almost planted a bomb at Dudhnoi Rasleela mela in Assam as a rehearsal,” said Pramod Kushwah, DCP (Special Cell).

The IEDs recovered from them were similar to that used in 2017 Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train blast.
