Mamta Banerjee reached UP in support of SP even in the midst of municipal elections

The TMC supremo, who went to Uttar Pradesh last week to campaign for the Samajwadi Party (SP), had said that her party had decided not to contest the elections keeping in mind the "larger interest" in that state. Banerjee told reporters, "TMC has not fielded any candidate in Uttar Pradesh because I do not want Akhilesh Yadav (SP chief) to weaken in any seat. In the first phase of elections, I am hopeful that Akhilesh's party will win 37 out of 57 seats.

The Chief Minister also said that she would go to Uttar Pradesh on March 3 to hold a rally in Varanasi. Criticizing the Congress, Banerjee claimed that no regional party has good relations with the Congress. "Congress can go on its own path, we will go on our own path," he said.

He alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government has "demolished" the country's constitution. Banerjee said she has spoken to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Telangana Chief Minister KCR and together "we are trying to protect the federal structure". The Marxist Communist Party was also asked to join hands in the larger interest but they did not listen, I cannot do anything more than this. I have no personal enmity with anyone.
