Cairo, the capital of Egypt, 18 people were killed in the collapse of a nine-storey apartment building in the early hours of Saturday. According to information received from an officer, about 24 others were injured in this tragic accident. Khalid Abdul-al, the administrative head of the Cairo regime, said rescuers were searching for people trapped in the building debris in al-Salam.

The injured have been admitted to the hospital. At present, the police have cordoned off the area. At the same time, people are searching for their acquaintances in the rubble. Employees were seen using bulldozers to remove debris. Abdul-al said that the cause of the building collapse was not immediately known. The government has recently initiated action against illegal construction across the country and violators are being sent to jail. The government has also initiated the demolition of buildings in many cases.

Mohammad Mustafa, who lives in the neighboring area, said, 'They took out 4 people in front of me. It seemed that they were almost gone. ' Till Saturday evening, the number of deaths related to this accident was 9 people. Abdal al has informed that a committee of engineers was set up to inquire about the structure of the buildings.

However, the collapse of buildings in Egypt is not uncommon. Developers in large cities such as Cairo and Alexandria violate building permits for large profits. Sometimes additional floors are prepared without the right permits.
