COVID-19 Update / Triple mutant corona virus found in India, more impact in Maharashtra and Bengal

Zoom News : Apr 21, 2021, 04:12 PM
A new corona virus has arrived in India. There are reports that it is a triple mutant. Currently, the corona virus is frighteningly spread in the country. The worst condition is that of Maharashtra. Genome sequencing in Maharashtra showed that 60% of the cases reported were new corona virus. It is named B.1.618 variant. Earlier, the double mutant corona virus came, which was named B1.617.

The new triple mutant corona virus has new genetic sets. It also has portions of the E484K variant. Triple mutant corona virus B.1.618 can betray the immune system of anyone's body. Not only this, the antibodies present in the body of those who have already had corona infection can also be termed as triple mutant corona virus deficient.

Scientists have warned that this triple mutant corona virus B1.618 is spreading rapidly in West Bengal at this time. Early sequences of this virus have been found in West Bengal. Currently elections are going on in West Bengal. B.1. Viruses similar to the 618 variant have also been found in the US, Switzerland, Singapore and Finland.

The first sample of triple mutant variant B.1.618 was found in another country outside India on 22 April 2020. Genome sequencing was done in West Bengal of this variant. This variant has been found in 129 out of 130 samples. Of the people infected with the B1.618 variant present in the world, 62.5% are in India only. This analysis is given at Outbreak .info.

Researcher Dr. of CSIR-IGIB. According to Vinod Scaria's Twitter, the E484K variant specializes in avoiding the immune system. Its genetic sets are found in many corona virus variants of the world. New mutants with E484K genetic sets are also not recovering from corona virus plasma therapy.

Dr. Vinod Scaria reported that the receptor binding domains of E484K i.e. Y145 and H146 do not directly communicate with or bind to the ACE2 receptor in humans. Because there have been many changes in the spike proteins of the corona virus having this genetic set, which is still being tried to understand.

B.1.618 and B.1.617 together have created new havoc in West Bengal at this time. Dr. Vinod Scaria said that there is not much information about the new variant at the moment. We do not even know how much the infection level will increase. Or whether a vaccine will affect it or not. For this, the companies making the vaccine will have to conduct separate tests on this variant.

According to the data deposited in the Global Repository GISAID, India currently has a total of 12% cases of B1.618 mutant corona virus. The virus is the third most frightening strain infecting people in the last 60 days. B.1.617 has 28 per cent cases. After this, the highest number of cases are coming in front of the B1.1 .7 variant.
