PM Modi News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached neighboring country Bhutan on a two-day visit. PM Modi will be in Bhutan on an official visit on March 22 and 23. Although earlier PM Modi's visit to Bhutan was to be held on March 21-22, but this visit of PM Modi was postponed due to bad weather. And the Indian Foreign Ministry had talked to the Bhutanese government soon and said that new dates would be announced. However, after mutual consent, PM Modi left for Bhutan today itself.

Local people happy with PM Modi's visit to Bhutan. A child told that PM Modi has come to our country, we are very happy about it. PM Modi got a warm welcome in the capital Thimphu. People standing on the roadside greeted PM Modi. Bhutan's PM Tshering Tobgay welcomed PM Modi at the airport. PM Modi was given guard of honor at the airport.

According to a report, despite being backward in GDP, most Bhutanese people are happy with their lives. More than half of Bhutan's population is involved in agriculture and hydropower. This country with a population of about 8 lakhs is surrounded by lush green forests, mountains and beautiful views. Because of which a large part of its income also comes from tourism. But more than earning, the government of Bhutan loves culture and environment, that is why the number of tourists coming here is limited. Not only this, there was a time when Bhutan had banned outsiders. In the year 1970, Bhutan had given permission to foreigners to come.

Apart from this, there are many other things which make Bhutan different from the world.

Country without TV and internet

Until 1999, there was officially no satellite TV, no internet and no television station in Bhutan. In 1989, the Bhutan government had banned all these in the name of saving the country's culture. The Bhutanese Foreign Minister had said in an interview to the Washington Post in 1990, “We are trying to modernize our country, not Westernize it.” Till the 1990s, radio was the only source of connection with the outside world for the people of Bhutan. But with time, Bhutan also changed its policies and in the year 1999, King of Bhutan Jigme Dorje Wangchuk gave the green signal to TV in the country, calling it “the light of the cyber age”.

How are India Bhutan relations?

India and Bhutan have diplomatic relations since 1968. India is Bhutan's largest trade partner, visits between the leaders of India and Bhutan have taken place in the past as well. In the year 2013, the King of Bhutan came to India as the chief guest of the Republic Day celebrations. Apart from this, India has been helping Bhutan in its 5 year plan since 1961.

Earlier on his Bhutan tour, PM Modi reached the capital Thimphu. On PM Modi's arrival in Bhutan, Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay shared a post on social media, in which he wrote, 'Welcome to Bhutan, my elder brother.'
