Delhi: AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday demanded the arrest of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her alleged controversial remarks about Prophet Mohammad. Owaisi said that the law of the country is supreme, the government needs to take action under the law. First the arrest of Nupur Sharma should be implemented.
Speaking to the media in Bhuj, Gujarat, Owaisi said that violence should not happen in a democracy. It is the responsibility of the government not to allow violence. Mamta Banerjee spoke on the nuisance after the remarks on the ProphetOwaisi alleged that the BJP did not take timely action against Sharma after Sharma's remarks during a TV debate led to a major controversy. Owaisi said, 'Nupur Sharma is not being arrested. According to the law, they should be arrested. He hasn't been arrested for so long. Why don't you arrest him and take legal action against him? Who is stopping you?'Protests were witnessed in many states of the country on Friday after the remarks made about Prophet Mohammad. Demonstrators took to the streets in many states and cities including Delhi, Kolkata, UP, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kashmir. Incidents of stone pelting and arson were also reported at some places.
