Wrestlers Protest: Wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Association Chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh have now opened a new front. Wrestlers have announced to shed their medals in the Ganges. Wrestler Bajrang Punia has written from his Twitter handle that we consider Ganga Maa sacred and medals are also sacred for us on the side of Ganga.

Bajrang Punia has written from his Twitter account that you all saw what happened on 28th May. How did the police treat us? We were arrested and we were agitating peacefully. The site of our agitation was snatched from us and an FIR was registered against us. Police is treating us like criminals. While the oppressor is making noises in open meetings. He is even openly talking about changing the Posco Act.

Talk of fasting unto death

Wrestlers have said that it seems that these medals decorated around our neck have no meaning left. Medal is our life. But we are going to throw these medals in the Ganga, because Ganga is the mother. The more sacred we consider Ganga, the more sacredly we had achieved these medals by working hard. These medals are sacred for the whole nation and the right place to keep the sacred medal can be Mother Ganga.

Medal is our life, our soul. After they get washed away in the Ganges, there will be no point in our living. That's why we will sit on fast unto death at India Gate. Today at 6 pm, we will float our medals in the Ganges at Haridwar.

Heavy ruckus between police and wrestlers

Wrestlers hoisting the tricolor at international events under the leadership of Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik were sitting on a dharna at Delhi's Jantar Mantar since April 23. Wrestlers level allegations of sexual harassment against BJP MP and Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Then on the behest of the Supreme Court, the police registered an FIR against MP Brij Bhushan. But when no action was taken, the wrestlers announced a march on May 28 from Jantar Mantar to the newly built Parliament House. After this there was a huge scuffle between the police and the wrestlers. After a huge uproar, the police evacuated Jantar Mantar.
