Business News: These days, there has been a lot of growth in the business of human milk. It is currently illegal in India. Those who are currently doing business of human milk. They should stop it immediately, as the regulator has issued strict orders regarding this. Food regulator FSSAI has warned food business operators against the sale of breast milk and issued approval to licensing authorities for processing and selling human milk. Instructed not to do so.

Amidst complaints that some institutions are selling mother's milk in the open market. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an advisory on human milk and its products and also said that it has not allowed any such sale.

What does the new order say?

The regulator, in its advisory dated May 24, said that this office is receiving information from various registered societies regarding the sale of human milk and its products. In this regard, it may be noted that FSSAI has not permitted processing and/or sale of human milk under the FSS Act 2006 and rules made thereunder.

Gave this advice to states and union territories

In its advisory issued to the food safety commissioners of states and union territories, the watchdog has also advised that all such activities related to selling of human milk and its products should be stopped immediately.

The regulator said that any violation of the same may result in initiation of action against FBOs (Food Business Operators) as per the FSS Act, 2006 and rules/regulations made thereunder. Further, FSSAI has asked the state and central licensing authorities to ensure that no license or registration is granted to such FBOs involved in the processing or sale of 'breast milk/human milk'.
