An 11-year-old girl was raped in a Sulabh toilet in Jabalpur. The girl had gone to the toilet in the morning, during which a middle-aged man started molesting her. On seeing the girl's noise, a woman and the girl's sister arrived, seeing that the accused fled. The police have registered an offense against the accused under sections of the POCSO Act.

Gwarighat police station in-charge Bhuvneshwari Chauhan said that on Thursday, a family of Aadhartal residents and their relatives had come for worship in Narmada river. Meanwhile, when her 11-year-old girl came to the toilet, she along with her elder sister went to the Sulabh toilet located in the ghat. She had gone to toilet in the lady's compartment of Sulabh toilet. Being small, she could not latch the door. As soon as the girl came out, Abdul Karim (age 40 years) entered the lady's compartment and started molesting her. Forcibly took the middle-aged girl inside the toilet. Then after hearing the voice of the girl, her sister and a woman standing outside reached, seeing whom the accused ran away. Police have arrested the accused by registering a case under other sections including POCSO.

Police was avoiding registering rape case

Strict laws have been made by the government to protect the girl child from gender crimes, but despite this, the Jabalpur police was avoiding registering a case against the accused under the POCSO Act on the complaint of the family. On the complaint of the elder sister of the minor, the police had registered a case of thrashing by the middle-aged. After the entire matter came to the notice of the station in-charge, the accused was taken into custody after registering a case under the POCSO Act.
