Delhi / 96 oxygen concentrators seized from Khan Chacha restaurant in Delhi

New Delhi: Continuing its crackdown on illegal hoarding of COVID-19 treatment equipment, the Delhi Police on Friday recovered 93 oxygen concentrators from a restaurant in Khan Market area of the national capital.

As per reports, the police, after receiving a tip-off, raided Khan Chacha restaurant in Khan market and seized 93 oxygen concentrators. A video shows brown cartons containing oxygen concentrators stacked inside the restaurant. A police officer can be seen counting the cartons.

This comes a day after the Delhi Police seized 419 oxygen concentrators from a bar in Lodhi Road area and arrested four people in connection with it. The concentrators were being sold at an inflated price of Rs 70,000 each, according to the police.

News agency ANI reported Delhi Police officials, during patrolling, noticed that a restaurant was open in Lodhi Colony amid the lockdown. The police officials, upon searching the premises of the restaurant, found 32 boxes of oxygen concentrators. Subsequently, the oxygen concentrators were seized and four people, who were present at the restaurant, were taken arrested. The accused have been booked under the Essential Commodities Act and Epidemic Diseases Act.

In yet another incident, two persons were arrested for black-marketing of oxygen concentrators, digital thermometers and other COVID-19-related medical equipment. A total of 10 oxygen concentrators, 3,486 digital thermometers, 684 oximeters, 10 nebulizers and 263 digital gun thermometers have been seized from the duo.

Delhi Police cracks whip against blackmarketers

It may be noted that the Delhi Police had on Thursday informed that a total of 303 FIRs have been registered in connection with hoarding or black-marketing of medical equipment during the pandemic’s second wave. Furthermore, 144 people arrested in connection with such cases.
