Delhi / A man was tied to a tree & beaten to death on suspicion of theft, two arrested

A 25-year-old unidentified guy died after he was tied to a tree and beaten up by a set of locals at the suspicion of robbery in outer Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area on Thursday, police stated. Two guys had been arrested on this connection and efforts are on to identify and nab the others, police stated Friday.


Deputy commissioner of police (outer-north) Rajiv Ranjan Singh stated the body of the person has been preserved on the government hospital mortuary in outer Delhi for identification purposes as his identity couldn't be ascertained until late Friday evening.


DCP Singh stated on Thursday around 9 am, the Narela Industrial Area police station acquired a call that a thief was caught and beaten up by the general public in Block I of the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIIDC) industrial area in Narela.


A police team was dispatched to the spot and the personnel arrived there to discover an unidentified man lying injured and unconscious. Locals alleged that he was a thief and was caught red-handed.


“The injured guy changed into rushed to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital in Narela, wherein he later succumbed to accidents during treatment. A case was registered under relevant sections and investigation taken up,” the DCP stated. Police have not shared information about the identities of the arrested guys and stated there were more suspects remaining to be arrested.
