Maldives India Row: The new statement of Maldives' new President Mohammed Muizzu is going to increase tension for India. He has announced that all the foreign soldiers present in Maldives will be sent back. He said that the victory made it clear that the people of our country have decided that they do not want Indian soldiers to stay in Maldives. Therefore, foreign soldiers cannot hurt our sentiments by staying here. In such a situation, the question is why Indian soldiers and aircraft, which have been helping Maldives many times, are pricking in the eyes of President Muizzu.

Let us understand its whole story. In the years 2020 and 2013, India gifted Dornier aircraft and two helicopters. In November 2021, the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) informed the Parliamentary Committee on Security Services that 75 Indian military personnel were deployed in the Maldives to operate aircraft and helicopters. Indian Army has been in Maldives for a long time. It is deployed to help the people there.

These planes are used to airlift the sick and injured to different islands in Maldives. In such a situation, the question is why 2 Indian planes, 1 helicopter and 75 Indian soldiers are pricking in the eyes of the new President. Now let us understand this.

There is a connection with China

Foreign affairs experts say that the new President of Maldives Mohammad Muizzu is being called a Chinese supporter. China is already trying to establish its influence over India and its neighboring countries. First Pakistan has been trying to encircle India then through Sri Lanka and Nepal. China keeps trying to harm India by helping these countries in some way or the other.

China now has its eyes on Maldives. China has started trying to keep an eye on India through the Maldives President. Strategically speaking, the sea on which Maldives is situated is very important. China is preparing to capture the Indian Ocean by getting closer to Maldives, which has been its old dream. This is his biggest strategy.

In 2016, Maldives leased one of its islands to a Chinese company for 50 years. This deal was done for 40 lakh dollars.

Why and how will the threat from dragon increase?

If we look at the geographical location of India, Maldives is quite special. It is close to India. Therefore, if China's occupation in Maldives increases, then India's threat is bound to increase. This may pose a threat to India. Earlier China was trying to keep an eye on India through Sri Lanka, but now it will try to spy on India through Maldives. Maldives' new President Mohammed Muizzu's inclination towards China will prove to be a lifeline for Dragon.

Free trade agreement surprised

The most surprising thing among all this is the free-trade agreement. Maldives has signed a free-trade agreement with China. This step of China has been surprising. This clearly shows how the friendship between Maldives and China can prove to be a threat to India.

This is when India helped Maldives on many occasions. In 1988, the then Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi saved the government of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom by sending Indian Army to Maldives. Apart from this, during the tsunami of 2004, an Indian plane had reached there with help.
