Delhi / AIIMS to get new director Randeep Guleria is retiring ICMR Balram Bhargava is also in the race

New Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is about to get a new director. 32 people have applied for this coveted post, including the name of ICMR Director General Balram Bhargava. Let us tell you that Randeep Guleria, the current director of AIIMS, is retiring on 23 March.

12 doctors of AIIMS have also applied for this post. These include Rajesh Malhotra, Head of Orthopedics and Head of Trauma Centre, MV Padma Srivastava, Head of Neuroscience Centre, Nikhil Tandon, Head of Endocrinology Department, Sunil Chumber, Head of Surgery, AK Bishoi, Professor of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) and Sudhir, Head of Forensics. Names like Gupta.

According to official sources, the date for the meeting of the four-member selection committee to short-list some names is yet to be decided. The panel includes Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, Department of Biotechnology Secretary Rajesh S Gokhale, Principal Scientific Adviser to the government K Vijay Raghavan and Delhi University VC Yogesh Singh.

"The members of the selection committee will soon meet to finalize some of the names, which will be sent to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the Prime Minister for final approval," a source said. The Faculty Cell of AIIMS had released the advertisement for the recruitment of new director on November 29 and the last date for submission of applications was December 29.
