Politics News: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Wednesday that his government has kept inflation below 5 percent. Whereas during the previous Congress led government it had reached double digits. Addressing the annual investment summit of 'India Global Forum' here, Shah said that before 2014, the condition of the Indian economy was fragile. Inflation was high and the fiscal deficit was also out of control.

"Inflation was in double digits during Congress rule."

He said, "During the Congress-led UPA government, inflation had reached double digits, but our government has controlled it below 5 percent. The country's confidence was shaken by various scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore during the UPA government." And crony capitalism was at its peak. He said the progress made in the last 10 years should be compared with the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's rule. "You can't understand progress unless you know how deep the hole is," he said.

India will become a developed country by 2047

Shah said, "India is a confident and self-reliant country, which has transformed itself from a passive government to a dynamic government, from regressive to progressive development and from a fragile economy to a top economy." Along with this he said that today India has emerged as a policy-driven state. "We are going into the elections with the performance of our government in the last 10 years and a roadmap for the next 25 years," he said in reference to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Describing Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a 'visionary Prime Minister', he said that by the completion of 100 years of independence in the year 2047, India will be fully developed, self-reliant and one of the top-three economies of the world.
