New Delhi : Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh has been sent to 14-day judicial custody for allegedly making derogatory remarks on Prophet Mohammed. He was arrested by the police on Tuesday morning. BJP has also suspended T Raja Singh from the party.Earlier on Monday, the BJP MLA released a video criticizing stand-up comedian Munawwar Farooqui and allegedly making remarks against Islam. Many members of the Muslim community protested in different parts of Hyderabad city demanding the arrest of Raja Singh.A case was then registered against T Raja Singh under various sections of the IPC relating to intentional and malicious acts promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion. The purpose of which was to insult the religious sentiments of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs and criminal intimidation among others.Subsequently, the Telangana Police arrested Raja Singh on the basis of a complaint lodged against him for his remarks on the Prophet. Meanwhile, BJP has suspended Raja Singh and sought his reply within 10 days as to why he should not be expelled.
