Along with this, there is also a demand for speedy recovery of bad loans, high deposit rates by banks, low service charges on consumers and restoration of old pension scheme for bank employees.

Banking services will be affected to some extent: Banks

State Bank of India said its services may be affected to some extent due to the strike. He has also made necessary arrangements for the normal functioning of the business. Punjab National Bank has said that the employees' unions of the bank have given notices regarding the strike, which may affect the services. Canara Bank, RBL Bank, Union Bank have also said that their services may be impacted. Due to the closing in the last days of the financial year after a two-day strike, services for customers in banks may be affected even on March 30-31.

Power Ministry asked to ensure supply of essential services

In view of the strike, the Ministry of Power has issued an advisory saying that in the interest of power consumers, all power installations are advised to take necessary steps to ensure day and night operation of the electricity grid. This advisory has been issued to all states, Central Public Sector Companies, Central Electricity Authority, National Load Despatch Center and Regional Load Despatch Centers. All regional and state control room executives have been asked to remain on high alert and maintain surveillance.

People should be posted 24 hours at important sub-stations, power stations

It has also been asked to deploy people round the clock at important sub-stations and power stations to ensure smooth supply of electricity to essential services like hospitals, defense and railways, the advisory said.
