BAP MLAs Protest For Bhil Pradesh And Mangarh Dham National Status

Bharat Adivasi Party MLAs staged a protest at the Rajasthan Assembly, demanding Bhil Pradesh and national monument status for Mangarh Dham, accusing the BJP government of neglecting tribal sacrifices.

On the inaugural day of the monsoon session of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, the demand for the creation of Bhil Pradesh and the recognition of Mangarh Dham as a national monument gained significant momentum. Before the formal proceedings of the house could commence on Thursday, MLAs belonging to the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) staged a vigorous demonstration within the assembly premises. The legislators raised their voices against both the Central and State BJP governments, accusing them of neglecting the long-standing aspirations of the tribal community.

Protest in Traditional Attire

The Bharat Adivasi Party MLAs arrived at the assembly wearing their traditional tribal attire, symbolizing their cultural identity and the gravity of their demands. During the protest, they engaged in intense sloganeering against the government, alleging a betrayal of promises made to the tribal people. The MLAs issued a stern warning to the administration, stating that if Mangarh Dham isn't granted the status of a national monument soon, they will take their struggle to the streets and organize large-scale public demonstrations across the state.

The Significance of Mangarh Dham

Thawarchand Damor, the Bharat Adivasi Party MLA from Dhariyawad, addressed the media during the protest and highlighted the historical importance of Mangarh Dham. He emphasized that Mangarh Dham is a sacred site of martyrdom for the tribal community. He stated that the demand to declare it a national monument isn't new and has been raised by various groups and leaders in the past, while damor asserted that the BAP will continue to raise this issue persistently until their demands are met by the authorities.

Allegations Against the BJP Government

MLA Thawarchand Damor further criticized the Central and State BJP governments, claiming that their hateful mindset is becoming evident through their disregard for tribal history. He pointed out that the struggle and sacrifice of the tribals at Mangarh occurred even before the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. According to historical accounts mentioned by the MLA, more than 1500 tribals were martyred at Mangarh. He lamented that despite such a massive sacrifice, the site is being ignored and its significance is being undermined by the current political leadership.

Broken Promises and Political Consequences

The MLA expressed disappointment over the fact that while high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister, visit the Mangarh hill, they've failed to follow through on their commitments. He described this as a direct blow to the sacrifices made by the tribal ancestors. Damor stated that Mangarh isn't just a hill but a hallowed ground of martyrs. He also took a swipe at the BJP government, alleging that the public is disillusioned due to a lack of developmental work. He concluded by saying that the people are ready to teach the government a lesson in the upcoming municipal and panchayat elections.
