Rahul Gandhi Slams RSS: Stop Imposing Your Version Of Truth On Indians

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticized the RSS for attempting to impose its version of truth on 1.5 billion Indians, emphasizing individual uniqueness and the concept of Swaraj.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Thursday, accusing the organization of attempting to impose its own version of truth on the people of India, while speaking at an event titled 'Hara Bharat Swaraj: A Tribute to Rajiv Gandhi's Vision' held in the national capital, the Congress leader emphasized that every individual is a unique entity and possesses the inherent right to define their own life path. He argued that the RSS's approach contradicts the fundamental principles of individual liberty and the diverse nature of the Indian populace.

The Concept of Individual Truth

During his address, Rahul Gandhi invoked the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi to highlight the importance of individual perspective, while he stated that Mahatma Gandhi believed every living being is a unique entity with their own distinct path toward the truth. Rahul Gandhi asserted that no external organization or individual has the authority to dictate what another person's truth should be. He remarked, "I can't tell you what your truth is. This is my problem with the RSS. 5 billion people. I say, no, while 5 billion people can know their own truth.

Personal Experiences and Circumstances

The Congress MP further elaborated on why it's impossible for one entity to understand the truth of another. He pointed out that every individual's life is shaped by unique circumstances, family backgrounds, and personal struggles. He said, "I've not suffered what you've. I've not seen what you've seen. I've not faced the circumstances that you've faced, while " He reiterated that his fundamental disagreement with the RSS stems from their claim of knowing the truth of 150 crore people, a claim he finds fundamentally flawed and intrusive.

Systemic Control and Attacks on Students

Rahul Gandhi also raised concerns about the RSS's influence over national systems and its impact on the youth. He alleged that a specific group of people has suddenly decided they know everyone's truth because they've control over the system. " He suggested that this perceived monopoly on truth leads to the suppression of diverse voices and the targeting of those who don't conform to the RSS's ideology.

Redefining Swaraj: Self-Rule and Responsibility

The speech also delved into the meaning of 'Swaraj', a term often translated as freedom but which Rahul Gandhi interpreted more deeply as 'rule over the self'. He explained that Swaraj is a Hindustani word that carries a heavy sense of responsibility. He gave the example of Mahatma Gandhi, saying, "People think Swaraj means freedom, but Swaraj means rule of the self, while if you had gone to jail 70-80 years ago and asked Gandhi ji if he was free, he would have said no, I am not free. " He concluded by stating that Mahatma Gandhi wanted every person in the country to follow this path of Swaraj, where individuals take responsibility for their own truth and self-governance rather than having it imposed upon them by others.
