New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in a store room adjacent to the Operation Theater (OT) of the casualty ward at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Monday morning. It was a matter of relief that the hospital staff, showing their wisdom, prevented the fire from spreading further and there was no casualty in this incident.

In a video that surfaced after the incident, it can be seen that seeing the flames rising from a hospital room, some AIIMS employees without caring for their lives immediately started extinguishing the fire and stopped a major accident before it could happen. gave. In view of the fire, all the patients admitted in the casualty ward were evacuated.

Director of Delhi Fire Services Atul Garg said that the information about the fire in the OT of the emergency department was received at 5:4 am and seven fire tenders were immediately sent to AIIMS. He said the fire was brought under control very quickly. The fire started in the store room adjacent to the OT.

According to the police, Hauz Khas police station received a call from the police control room at around 5.15 am about the fire and on reaching AIIMS, sparks and smoke were seen rising from the spot.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said that all the patients present in the vicinity have been evacuated. Seven fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire. He said the situation was now normal and under control and there were no casualties. Police said that investigation is on to find out the cause of the fire.
