Pakistan has included an additional player in their Asia Cup 2023 squad. Middle-order batsman Saud Shakeel has been included in Pakistan's Asia Cup squad and Tayyab Tahir has been kept as a traveling reserve. Shakeel was not part of the initial 17-member squad and was the 18th member of the squad for the ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan. Tahir, who was initially in the squad, did not play a single match in the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. He travels with the team as a reserve player during the Asia Cup

Shakeel, who returned to the ODI squad for the Afghanistan series, played just one match and scored 9 runs. Pakistan will play its first match in the Asia Cup against Nepal on August 30 in Multan. The team will reach Multan on August 27, with Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq and Naseem Shah joining the team on Monday evening. Apart from this, Pakistan's biggest match in Asia Cup will be played against India on 02 September.
