Punjab Lok Congress said in a tweet, "Happy to inform that Punjab Lok Congress has got the party's symbol - hockey stick and ball." It is the national sport of India and is very popular in Punjab. It is played the most in the rural areas of the state.

Many hockey players coming from Punjab have worn the Indian hockey team jersey and have represented the country. Interestingly, Pargat Singh, the former captain of the Indian hockey team, is also a minister in the Congress government of the state. At the same time, Amarinder Singh led the Punjab government till a few months ago. But then his tussle with Punjab Congress chief and cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu escalated and a dispute arose between the two. After this Amarinder Singh resigned from the post of Chief Minister and formed his own party (Punjab Lok Congress).
