Oil marketing companies have implemented revised prices for various petroleum products, effective December 1, 2025, following their monthly review. This latest adjustment brings a welcome, albeit modest, reduction in the cost of commercial LPG cylinders, while domestic LPG prices remain stable. Conversely, the aviation sector faces a notable increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices.
Commercial LPG Cylinders Become Cheaper
From Monday, December 1, 2025, the price of 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinders has been reduced by ₹10 across the country, while this slight decrease is expected to provide some relief to traders and small businesses that heavily rely on LPG cylinders for their operations. Establishments such as hotels, restaurants, and other commercial enterprises can now experience a marginal reduction in their operational costs, which is particularly beneficial given the current economic climate. This marks the second consecutive month of price reduction for commercial cylinders, following a ₹5 cut just a month prior.
New Prices in Major Cities
Following the ₹10 reduction, a 19-kilogram commercial cylinder will now be available in Delhi for ₹1580. 50, down from its previous price of ₹1590. 50. This change is reflected across other major cities as well. In Kolkata, the price has decreased to ₹1684. 00, while Mumbai will see commercial cylinders priced at ₹1531, while 50. Chennai residents will now pay ₹1739. 50 for the same 19-kilogram cylinder, while these adjustments aim to support the commercial sector by slightly easing their fuel expenses.
Prices in Other Key Locations
Beyond the metropolitan areas, other significant cities have also witnessed the implementation of these new commercial LPG prices. In Noida, the 19-kilogram cylinder is now priced at ₹1580. 50, aligning with Delhi's rates. Patna sees a new price of ₹1829, while Lucknow's commercial cylinder cost stands at ₹1703. Further, in Himachal Pradesh, Shimla's price is ₹1688. 50, and Uttarakhand's capital, Dehradun, offers it at ₹1638. Gurugram in Haryana has a price of ₹1597, and Ranchi in Jharkhand is set at ₹1733. These uniform reductions across various regions underscore the nationwide impact of the oil marketing companies' decision.
Domestic LPG Prices Remain Unchanged
While commercial users benefit from the price cut, the prices of 14. 2-kilogram domestic LPG cylinders have seen no alteration, while in Delhi, the price for a domestic LPG cylinder continues to be ₹853. This stability in domestic prices means that household budgets won't be directly impacted by this particular review, maintaining consistency for millions of consumers across the nation. The focus of this month's adjustment appears to be primarily on the commercial segment.
Monthly Price Review Mechanism
The pricing of LPG cylinders and other petroleum products is subject to a monthly review conducted by India's state-owned oil marketing companies, which include Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum, and Bharat Petroleum. These companies assess various factors, including international crude oil prices, currency exchange rates, and other operational costs, before announcing new prices, while any changes or new prices typically come into effect on the first day of each month. Indian Oil often leads this review process, setting the benchmark for the industry. It's noteworthy that commercial LPG cylinder prices have seen reductions in both December and November, indicating a recent trend of easing costs for businesses.
Significant Hike in ATF Prices
In contrast to the relief in commercial LPG, the aviation sector is facing a substantial increase in the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). According to the official website of Indian Oil, the price of ATF for domestic airlines in Delhi has surged to ₹99,676, while 77 per kilolitre, effective December 1, 2025. This represents a significant hike of ₹5133. 75 per kilolitre compared to November's prices, while this increase could potentially lead to higher operating costs for airlines, which might, in turn, influence airfare prices for passengers.
ATF Prices Across Key Airports
The rise in ATF prices isn't limited to Delhi but is reflected across other major airports as well. In Kolkata, the new price for ATF is ₹1,02,371. 02 per kilolitre, while mumbai, a major aviation hub, now sees ATF priced at ₹93,281. 04 per kilolitre. Further south, in Chennai, the cost has reached ₹1,03,301. 80 per kilolitre. These widespread increases in aviation fuel costs present a challenge for airlines, as fuel constitutes a significant portion of their operational expenditure, potentially impacting their profitability and pricing strategies in the coming months.
