Computer science exams in Pakistan Jhelum postponed due to Maryam Nawaz visit

Computer science exams scheduled for November 10 in Jhelum district of Pakistan's Punjab province have been postponed due to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's visit. The papers will now be held on November 30.

In Pakistan's Punjab province, a major administrative decision has been taken to postpone students' examinations due to the official visit of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi has officially cancelled the computer science papers that were originally scheduled to be held on November 10. These specific papers were a crucial part of the intermediate second-year second annual examinations for the year 2026. Following the rescheduling, these examinations will now be conducted on November 30.

This significant decision has been implemented keeping in view the high-profile visit of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan on November 10. The Deputy Commissioner of Jhelum had formally recommended the postponement of the examinations to the authorities. Acting swiftly on this administrative request, the Rawalpindi Board changed the examination dates for both morning and evening shifts specifically within the Jhelum district.

According to reports published in the newspaper Dawn, the Deputy Commissioner of Jhelum had written an official letter to the Chairman of the Rawalpindi Board, strongly demanding the postponement of the computer science examination. The letter explicitly stated that the district administration is making massive preparations for the Chief Minister's visit. These extensive preparations include stringent security arrangements, comprehensive administrative management, and various protocols associated with the high-level visit.

As per the details provided by the Deputy Commissioner, a large number of government officials, administrative staff, and security personnel will be deployed across the district to manage these elaborate preparations. Under such demanding circumstances, conducting the district-wide examinations smoothly and without any hindrance would have proven extremely difficult, while So, to protect students from unnecessary inconvenience and to ensure that all arrangements for the Chief Minister's visit are executed flawlessly, a formal request was made to alter the examination schedule.

Accepting the recommendation put forward by the Deputy Commissioner, the Rawalpindi Board has fixed November 30 as the brand-new date for the examinations that were supposed to take place on November 10. Board spokesperson Arsalan Cheema officially confirmed this development while sharing comprehensive details with the media. He informed that the Controller of Examinations, Mubashir Saeed, has formally issued an official notice regarding the newly designated date.

According to the newly released and revised schedule, the timing for the examinations on November 30 will remain consistent with the original plan. The morning shift paper will be conducted during the morning hours, while the evening shift paper will take place in the evening. Most importantly, both examinations will be held at the exact same examination centers that were previously allotted. Rawalpindi Board officials have clarified that this significant modification applies exclusively to the Jhelum district.

In stark contrast, all other districts falling under the administrative jurisdiction of the Rawalpindi Board will conduct their examinations on November 10 strictly according to the previously announced schedule and time table without any alterations. Only the candidates belonging to the Jhelum district have been affected by this administrative rescheduling, which means these students will now have to wait for an additional 20 days to appear for their computer science paper.

To ensure maximum convenience for the students and to eliminate any potential confusion, Controller of Examinations Mubashir Saeed announced that brand-new roll number slips will be officially issued by the board. However, in a major relief for candidates, he clarified that the roll number slips that were previously issued will also remain entirely valid. This means that students can comfortably appear for the examinations using their old slips as well. Consequently, due to this rescheduling decision, the students of Jhelum district will now face a waiting period of twenty extra days for their computer science examination.
