New Delhi : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will not be able to attend the winter session of Parliament that begins in the first week of December. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh gave this information on Saturday. He said that party leader Rahul Gandhi will not be able to attend the winter session of Parliament due to being busy in the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Jairam Ramesh said that Congress MPs will not leave the Bharat Jodo Yatra to attend the winter session of Parliament. The winter session of Parliament is likely to begin in the old building in the first week of December and continue till the end of the month. Sources gave this information on Friday. He said that the session is proposed to be held from December 7 to 29 and the final decision regarding the dates will be taken by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.

On the other hand, if we talk about the Congress's India Jodo Yatra, it started from the southernmost part of India in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu on 7 September. 52-year-old Rahul Gandhi has completed his scheduled padyatra in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. The 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, resumed its sixth day in Maharashtra on Saturday morning from Shevla village in Hingoli district. During this journey of about 150 days, a distance of 3,570 km will be covered. It will pass through 12 states before ending in Jammu and Kashmir. During the Padyatra, a distance of 382 kilometers will be covered in five districts of Maharashtra. It will enter Madhya Pradesh on 20 November.

When asked about Congress party's stand on caste census and reservation, Jairam Ramesh said that "Congress party has consistently maintained the same position on this issue since 2014. The Congress supports reservation in education and employment for the economically weaker sections in all communities without disturbing the existing reservation for SC/ST/OBC." At the same time, the Congress leader said that the party's demand is that Caste-wise census should be conducted at the earliest. He said, "When the main census has been done, then there is a need for caste census also. If there is no caste census, then what will be the basis for implementing reservation.
