Congress had criticized the inclusion of Surendra Pal Singh in the cabinet and called it a violation of the model code of conduct. Newly elected MLAs Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa have been made Deputy Chief Ministers.

On the results, former Chief Minister and Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has said that the victory in the by-elections shows that despite the defeat in the Assembly, our strength has not diminished. We will benefit from this in the Lok Sabha elections. On the other hand, Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotaras said that the new slip government of BJP kept changing the names of Congress schemes, while on the other hand the people changed their ministers.

Surendrapal Singh TT had become minister

Even before the elections on Karanpur seat, Bharatiya Janata Party had included its candidate Surendrapal Singh TT in the Council of Ministers as Minister of State (Independent Charge) on December 30. This step of the party was being discussed a lot. At the same time, Congress had fielded Rupinder Singh, son of late MLA Gurmeet Singh Kunnar, as a sympathy ticket.

Ashok Gehlot tweeted

Former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has tweeted on the victory of the Congress candidate. He wrote - "Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Congress candidate Rupinder Singh Kunnar for his victory in Srikaranpur. This victory is dedicated to the public service work of late Gurmeet Singh Kunnar. The people of Srikaranpur have defeated the pride of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The candidate is in the midst of elections. The public has taught a lesson to the BJP, which flouted the code of conduct and morality by appointing M.P. as a minister."

Congress could not break the tradition of Rajasthan

In the Rajasthan Assembly elections held on 25 November, BJP had hoisted the victory flag on 115 seats and defeated Congress tremendously. The Congress which was in power was reduced to 69 seats. Congress was continuously claiming that this time it would break the tradition of 30 years.
