Karanpur Election: Surendrapal TT is the first minister in the history of Rajasthan, who got the post before becoming an MLA. Now another unwanted achievement has been registered in the name of TT. He has become the first minister to resign only after taking oath. The reason for resignation is that he has lost the assembly elections from Srikaranpur seat. TT remained minister for 9 days. This was the first political exam of CM Bhajanlal Sharma after the formation of BJP government, in which he failed. As part of its shocking strategy, BJP made TT a minister even before victory. CM Bhajan Lal and State President CP Joshi tried their best, but the public rejected it.

Here, after the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Kunnar, Congress had given ticket to his son Rupinder Singh Kunnar. Rupinder, who was flying on the wave of sympathy during the entire election campaign, has added one more seat to the Congress account. Gurmeet Singh Kunnar was a former Congress MLA.

Overconfidence: Could not instill confidence among farmers on canal-irrigation issue

After forming majority government, BJP was overconfident about the remaining one seat, Shrikaranpur. This is the reason why candidate Surendra Pal Singh TT was given the ministerial post even before the elections.

Since canal and irrigation etc. were major issues in Srikaranpur, he was also made the minister of these departments. CM Bhajan Lal and BJP State President CP Joshi put their efforts into the election campaign and also held a bigger meeting than Congress.

Despite this, BJP could not convince the farmers on the issue of adequate water for irrigation. The BJP government could not even clarify its stand whether it would take effective steps to take the full entitlement of water from Punjab to the farmers and make it available for irrigation or not.

At the same time, during the elections, it was also discussed among the local voters that by making TT a minister, BJP is showing over-enthusiasm and is trying to influence the voters without waiting for the mandate. In such a situation, the people of the area were unhappy with making TT a minister before the elections. It is believed that BJP also had to bear the consequences of this.

Punjab Effect: BJP had to face resentment on farmers movement and Khalistan issue

For Srikaranpur seat, it cannot be said that it has been the seat of any one particular party. If we look at the results of the last elections, both Congress and BJP have been facing victory and defeat. In 2018, this seat had gone out of the hands of BJP and Congress had won it.

Shrikaranpur assembly seat is adjacent to Punjab. Due to the majority of Jat-Sikhs, the direct impact of Punjab's issues is seen here.

During the last assembly elections in Punjab, BJP had to face resentment due to the farmers' movement there. This time the issue of Khalistan ideology was also added to the resentment.

This effect affected the Srikaranpur seat of Rajasthan, adjacent to the Punjab border, and the BJP had to face defeat.

Congress's emotional card: wave of sentiments and Congress's dynastic strategy successful

After the demise of Gurmeet Kunnar, Congress played the sympathy card by giving ticket to his son Rupinder. Congress's strategy of dynasticism was successful.

Due to the death of Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Kunnar on 19 November, elections were held only on 199 out of 200 seats of Rajasthan Assembly on 25 November. Voting was held on Srikaranpur seat on January 5 and the result has come today.

Congress had also adopted the strategy of dynasticism in the previous by-elections and had won. After the death of Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal in Sujangarh, tickets were given to his son Manoj Kumar, Preeti Shaktawat, wife of Gajendra Shaktawat from Vallabhnagar, Gayatri Trivedi, wife of Kailash Trivedi from Sahada and Anil Sharma, son of Bhanwarlal Sharma from Sardarshahar. All of them had won and become MLAs.

Personal anti-incumbency: Senior leader, was a minister earlier also, still could not win trust

Surendra Pal Singh TT is one of the old leaders of BJP. He was a minister twice and handled departments like agriculture, mines and petroleum. Despite being a minister, he had to face defeat in the very next election. This time he was made a minister even before the elections.

Farmer voters of Srikaranpur area complained that even after a month of BJP getting majority, farmers did not get enough water for irrigation. Even after forming the government, BJP campaigned extensively on this seat, but the canal department did not show promptness in providing water to the farmers.

TT could not assure that after winning, they would be able to provide additional water for irrigation to the farmers of Srikaranpur.

Emotional, tears came in front of father's photo

BJP candidate and Minister of State (Independent Charge) Surendra Pal Singh TT has been defeated by Congress's Rupinder Singh Kunnar by 11 thousand 261 votes from Srikaranpur Assembly seat. Kunnar got 94761 votes and TT got 83500 votes. Rupinder Singh Kunnar became emotional after the victory.

Tears welled up when he bowed his head in front of the picture of his father Gurmeet Singh Kunnar. Kunnar said that Sardar Gurmeet Singh Kunnar was contesting this election. It is noteworthy that before the voting in November, Congress candidate Gurmeet Singh Kunnar had died and the elections were postponed. Congress had given ticket to Rupinder Singh Kunnar after the death of his MLA father.

There was moral pressure and I had to resign.

After the defeat in the assembly elections, the question started being raised whether TT will remain a minister now or not? After the election defeat, there was constant moral pressure on him to resign.

After the election defeat, he resigned from the post of minister late in the evening, which was accepted. It had been only 9 days since he became a minister. However, he did not take charge after the oath.
