Om Prakash Chautala: Former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala has been convicted by the Rouse Avenue Court of Delhi in the disproportionate assets case. The sentence will be debated in the court on May 26.

Om Prakash Chautala was present in the courtroom during the hearing on Saturday. There will be a debate on the sentence of the former CM in the court on May 26. Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court had reserved the verdict two days ago after the arguments of both the sides in the matter were over.

On March 26, 2010, the CBI had filed a charge sheet against former CM Omprakash Chautala in the court. It was told that OP Chautala has allegedly amassed assets worth Rs 6.09 crore, much more than his legitimate income, between 1993 and 2006. This is more than his income. On the other hand, the Chautala family has always been calling these allegations politically motivated.

ED had attached assets worth Rs 3.68 crore

In the year 2019, the Enforcement Directorate had attached properties worth Rs 3 crore 68 lakh of former CM Om Prakash Chautala. These properties included flats, plots and land owned by Omprakash Chautala. The seized properties are in New Delhi and Panchkula and Sirsa districts of Haryana. This action was taken in connection with the FIR registered under money laundering in a case of disproportionate assets.

Has been sentenced to 10 years in Tihar

It is worth noting that former CM Om Prakash Chautala was convicted in the JBT scam in January 2013. The INLD supremo was sentenced to seven years in the Prevention of Corruption and 10 years for conspiracy if found guilty. In July last year, OP Chautala came out of Delhi's Tihar Jail after completing his sentence.
