Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that now everyone will not get subsidy on electricity in Delhi, but only those who demand it. He said that the new rule is being implemented from October 1. A form will be sent to the people to apply for subsidy, apart from this registration can also be done through missed call.

In a press conference with Manish Sisodia, Arvind Kejriwal said, "We saved a lot of government money by eliminating corruption. With that money, people were given facilities. The people of Delhi now get 24 hours electricity and it is free. There are total 58 lakh domestic consumers in Delhi. Of these, 57 lakh get subsidy. Out of this, there are 30 lakh people whose bill comes to zero. Half the bills of 16-17 lakh people come. Electricity is free up to 200 units and half the bill for 200 to 400 units."

Kejriwal said, "Some people had this demand, the right demand was that we can give, so why are we being given subsidy. Why are subsidies being imposed on us? It is right that why subsidies should be forcefully given to everyone, only those who need it. A few months back, the government decided that the subsidy would be available only to those who applied. Now that scheme is going to be implemented. The old scheme will continue till September 30. From October 1, the subsidy will be given to those who apply.

Regarding the process of applying for subsidy, Kejriwal said, "One way is to have a form come with the next bill, fill it and submit it where you pay the bill. With this your subsidy will continue. Another way is electronic. Hitting a missed call on the number 70113111111 will bring an SMS with a link in it. On clicking the link, a form will open on WhatsApp, by filling it, registration will be done. Apart from SMS on this number, writing Hi on WhatsApp will also bring the form. Those who have registered their mobile number will be sent the form by the government. The confirmation will be sent within three days of the application. This process has started from today itself.

The CM of Delhi said that the subsidy will continue from October 1 to all those who apply till October 31. Those who apply in November will have to pay the bill of October and will get subsidy from November. Those who apply in December will have to pay the bills for October and November. You have to apply for subsidy once every year.
