Special | An Iranian man who holds the unofficial record for the world's dirtiest man has died. According to Iranian media reports, the 94-year-old man died on Tuesday. He had not taken a bath for the last 50 years that is why he was called "the dirtiest man in the world". The name of this person, who is called "the dirtiest man in the world", is being told as Amou Haji.

Reports said that Amau Haji was afraid that if he would take a bath, he would get an infection, so he left the bath. Amau Haji lived alone in the village of Dejgah in the southern Fars province. According to the IRNA report, he died of natural causes. In the year 2013, a short documentary named 'The Strange Life of Amau Haji' was also made on this person. The documentary showed how Amau Haji lives his life.

The IRNA agency quoted a local official as saying that Haji had avoided bathing for fear of "getting sick". But "for the first time a few months back, the villagers took her to the bathroom to take a bath." Villagers said that they could not recover from "some shocks in their youth" which led them to refuse to take a bath. In 2014, the Tehran Times reported that Haji ate animals that died on the roadside, smoking from a pipe filled with animal feces. He believed that cleanliness would make him sick.

After Haji's death, this unofficial record can now be traced back to an Indian man who did not bathe for most of his life. In 2009 Hindustan Times reported that Kailash "Kalau" Singh of a village outside the holy city of Varanasi did not bathe for more than 30 years in an attempt to end "all the problems facing the country". Kalau Singh used to smoke every evening by lighting a fire. Kalau also used to worship Lord Shiva by standing on one leg.
