DUSU Election Result 2026: ABVP Sweeps Three Seats, Independent Wins Vice President

The results of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) Election 2026 have been officially declared, marking a significant triumph for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). In a high-stakes electoral battle that's often regarded as the nursery of Indian politics, the ABVP managed to secure three out of the four central panel positions. The student wing of the RSS won the posts of President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, demonstrating its continued influence within the university's student body. ABVP Dominates the Presidential Race

The counting of votes, which concluded after several intense rounds, confirmed that Yash Dabas of the ABVP has been elected as the new President of DUSU. The competition for the top post was primarily between the ABVP and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress. Yash Dabas secured a total of 22434 votes, narrowly defeating his closest rival, Vijay Shankar Meena of the NSUI, who garnered 21390 votes. Independent Candidate Shocks Major Parties

The most unexpected result of the DUSU 2026 elections came from the Vice-Presidential post. Deepanshu Shokeen, an independent candidate, achieved a landslide victory, leaving both ABVP and NSUI candidates far behind, while by the 19th round of counting, Deepanshu Shokeen had secured a massive 28873 votes. In comparison, the ABVP candidate Issu Maurya received 15346 votes, while the NSUI candidate Veer Chatrath managed only 4010 votes. Success in Secretary and Joint Secretary Posts

The ABVP continued its winning streak in the other central panel positions. For the post of Secretary, Riya Chhabri of the ABVP emerged victorious by securing 19846 votes. She defeated Namrata Chaudhary of the NSUI, who received 13963 votes. The race for the Joint Secretary post was one of the most closely contested battles in this election. Lakshyaraj Singh (also referred to as Lakshyaraj Chaudhary) of the ABVP won the seat with 14965 votes. He faced a very tough challenge from Vishesh Yadav of the SCS (the student wing of the Samajwadi Party), who secured 14836 votes, and Gopal Chaudhary of the NSUI, who received 14482 votes.
