Farmer Protest News: After a tense confrontation between farmers and police at the Shambhu border of Punjab-Haryana on Sunday, farmer organizations postponed the Delhi march program for a day. Tear gas, pepper spray and water cannons were used in the clash between agitating farmers and police. Farmer organizations claimed that 10 farmers were injured in the clash, out of which 6 were seriously injured.

Sequence of events

On Sunday morning, a group of 101 farmers marched towards Delhi on foot. However, Haryana Police stopped them at the Shambhu border and asked them to submit permission letters for the march. An argument started between the farmers and the police on this demand.

When some farmers tried to remove the barricading, the police resorted to pepper spray and tear gas. After this, tear gas shells and water cannons continued for three consecutive hours. The farmers collected the empty shells of these attacks and said that they would complain to human rights agencies.

Protest of farmer organizations and statement of police

The farmers made serious allegations against the police and said that the government and the administration are trying to suppress their voice. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, "The government has lost its credibility. Instead of talking to the farmers, violent methods are being adopted to stop their peaceful protest."

On the other hand, Haryana Police said in its clarification that the farmers violated the law and order. DSP Varinder Kumar said that the protesters were trying to remove the iron mesh, due to which the police had to take action.

Temporary postponement of Delhi march

After the incidents, farmer organizations decided to postpone the protest and decide the further strategy on Monday. This decision has been taken in view of the hearing related to opening the border in the Supreme Court.

Further plan

The farmer leaders announced that the final decision on the Delhi march will be taken on December 10, 2024. They are hoping to negotiate with the central government on their demands and find a peaceful solution to the movement.

Conclusion

The lack of communication and increasing tension between farmers and the government has further complicated the movement. This development not only raises concerns about the rights of farmers but also raises questions about the role of the government and the administration. Now all eyes are on Monday's hearing and the future strategy of the farmers.
