Under the Shuddh Aahar-Milawat Par Vaar campaign, the Food Safety Department destroyed 2865 kg of contaminated sweets in Jaipur and seized 10070 kg of spices in Alwar due to severe hygiene violations and lack of licenses.

The Food Safety and Drug Control Department has intensified its crackdown on food adulteration across Rajasthan under the state-wide campaign titled Shuddh Aahar-Milawat Par Vaar. On Thursday, the department conducted extensive raids in Jaipur and Alwar, leading to the destruction of 2865 kilograms of contaminated sweets and the seizure of 10070 kilograms of spices. These actions were carried out under the direct instructions of Food Safety and Drug Control Commissioner Dr, while t. Shubhamangala and the supervision of Joint Commissioner Dr. Vijay Prakash Sharma. The department has signaled a zero-tolerance policy towards those compromising public health through unhygienic practices and adulteration.

Major Raid in Sanganer, Jaipur

In Jaipur's Sanganer area, the food safety team inspected a factory belonging to a local firm where they uncovered shocking conditions. The officials found approximately 1605 kilograms of rotten and foul-smelling sweets stored in 107 rusted tins. The environment was described as extremely unhygienic, with worms found in the sugar syrup used for preparing the sweets. Plus, the team discovered cans of acid kept in close proximity to food items, posing a severe risk of chemical contamination, while given the gravity of the situation, the entire stock of 1605 kilograms of sweets was destroyed on the spot. The department also collected samples of Mawa and Kaju Katli for further laboratory testing to determine the extent of adulteration and safety for consumption.

Action in Bagru and Unlicensed Operations

The enforcement drive continued in the Bagru region, specifically at a sweet shop located in Village Ghegha. During this inspection, the team found approximately 1260 kilograms of Milk Cake and Doda Barfi that were unfit for human consumption. These items were immediately destroyed to prevent them from reaching the market. It was also discovered that the manufacturing unit was operating without a valid food license. Consequently, the department ordered an immediate halt to all manufacturing activities at the site. The total weight of sweets destroyed in Jaipur during these two major actions amounted to 2865 kilograms, highlighting the scale of the safety violations found in the district.

Massive Spice Seizure in Alwar

In a parallel operation in Alwar, the department targeted a spices firm located in the Matsya Industrial Area (MIA). The inspection led to the seizure of a staggering 10070 kilograms of various spices. The food safety officers collected 8 different samples, including coriander, turmeric, chili, and mixed spices, for quality analysis. Pending the results of the laboratory tests, the department has seized 4500 kilograms of coriander, 3000 kilograms of turmeric, 2400 kilograms of chili, and 170 kilograms of mixed spices. A specific recall order was issued for coriander powder belonging to batch number AS-159 after it was deemed unsafe during preliminary assessments. The department has ensured that these products won't be sold until they're cleared by the lab.

Strict Legal Consequences and Future Outlook

The Food Safety and Drug Control Department has emphasized that any violation of food safety standards will be met with the strictest possible legal action. This includes the cancellation of licenses, the destruction of hazardous food materials, and other statutory proceedings. The final course of action against the involved firms will be determined once the official laboratory reports of the collected samples are released. The department remains committed to ensuring that only pure and safe food products are available to the public, and such surprise inspections will continue across the state to deter adulterators and protect consumer health.
