Green Gas Limited Hikes CNG Prices By Up To 3.25 Rupees In Uttar Pradesh

Green Gas Limited, a joint venture of Indian Oil and GAIL, has increased CNG prices in several Uttar Pradesh cities including Lucknow, Agra, and Ayodhya. The hike, ranging from 2 to 3.25 rupees per kg, is attributed to rising input costs and currency fluctuations.

In a significant development for vehicle owners in Uttar Pradesh, the prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) used in vehicles have been increased once again. Green Gas Limited, which is a prominent joint venture between two of India's leading state-run companies, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and GAIL (India) Limited, announced the price revision on Saturday, while 25 rupees per kilogram across various cities in the state. The company provides CNG supply to several key regions including the state capital Lucknow, as well as Agra, Unnao, Ayodhya, and Sultanpur.

Reasons Behind the Price Revision

According to reports, Green Gas Limited has cited several critical factors for this fresh increase in the retail prices of CNG. The primary reasons provided by the company include the higher cost of input gas, the rising prices of spot Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) in the international market, and the ongoing fluctuations in the currency exchange rates. These economic pressures have forced the joint venture to pass on the additional costs to the end consumers. Following this decision by Green Gas Limited, the new prices have been implemented in different cities of Uttar Pradesh on 3 October and 4 October. This decision is expected to impact hundreds of thousands of consumers across Lucknow, Agra, Unnao, Ayodhya, and Sultanpur who rely on CNG for their daily commute and commercial operations.

City-wise Price Breakdown: Lucknow, Unnao, and Agra

The price revision has been implemented differently across the service areas of Green Gas Limited. In the cities of Lucknow, Unnao, and Agra, the company has increased the price of CNG by 2 rupees per kilogram. In the state capital Lucknow, the price of CNG has surged from 105 rupees to 107 rupees per kilogram. 75 rupees per kilogram. The new rates in both Lucknow and Unnao were made effective from 3 October. Also, in the city of Agra, the price for one kilogram of CNG has risen from 105 rupees to 107 rupees.
