Hijab Controversy: During the hearing on the sixth day in the Karnataka High Court regarding the Hijab controversy, the lawyer representing the Muslim girl students alleged bias. The lawyer said that why the government is making the issue of hijab alone. He said that in schools and colleges, Hindu girls wear bangles, while Christian girls wear crosses. After all, why are they not being sent out of the institutions. He said that no other religious symbol has been talked about in the government order. Why hijab? Is it not because of their religion? Discrimination against Muslim girls is completely based on religion.

'One year before the rules were changed, the relatives had to be informed'

The counsel appearing for the girl students demanding hijab said that if any order has been issued regarding the ban, then the family members of the girl students had to be informed about it a year in advance. Advocate Ravikumar Verma said this citing the Education Act, in which there is a provision to tell about any rule one year in advance. Along with this, he asked the High Court to fix the time limit for the hearing of this matter and take a decision on the hijab dispute at the earliest. He said that the Karnataka Education Act does not propose anything like a ban on hijab.

There is no rule regarding dress code in college

The pro-hijab lawyer said that the government should tell under which rules and authority it has banned the hijab. This is not the case in any law. He said that there is no rule regarding dress in pre-university college. "It is not a law but a rule," he said. It states that there is no uniform in the pre-university college. He said that the College Development Council is not the authority to frame any rules in this regard.

Question on BJP MLA being president of college committee

Advocate Ravi Kumar Verma also questioned the BJP MLA from Udupi being the president of the college committee. He said that an MLA who is representative of a political party and ideology. Can the intention of any such person to work in the interest of the students be trusted. He said that the constitution of such a committee is a matter of great concern for the democracy.
