Delhi Election 2025: The nomination process for the Delhi Assembly elections concluded on January 17. A total of 981 candidates filed 1521 nominations between January 10 and 17. According to the Delhi Election Commission, this time too, the New Delhi assembly seat is the most talked about, where 29 candidates have filed 40 nominations. This seat is considered to be the hottest seat in Delhi as Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is contesting from here.

New Delhi seat: High-profile contest

Arvind Kejriwal is facing Sandeep Dixit of Congress and Pravesh Verma of BJP on the New Delhi seat. Interestingly, both the candidates are sons of former chief ministers. Sandeep Dixit is the son of late Congress leader Sheila Dixit, while Pravesh Verma is the son of BJP leader and former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma.

However, the last chance for the candidates to withdraw their nomination is till January 20. Voting in Delhi will be held on February 5, while the results will be declared on February 8.

All parties are busy in their strategies

This time Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are contesting alone on all 70 seats. At the same time, BJP has also given a chance to its two allies. Shailendra Kumar of Janata Dal United (JDU) is contesting on Burari seat and Deepak Tanwar Valmiki of LJP (Ram Vilas) is contesting on Deoli seat.

Shailendra Kumar is in direct competition with three-time MLA of Aam Aadmi Party Sanjeev Jha on Burari seat. At the same time, BJP has tried to change the equation by fielding LJP candidate Deepak Tanwar on Deoli seat.

Political picture of Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party has been in power in Delhi for the last 10 years. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the party has won the elections three times in a row. Now AAP is preparing to capture power for the fourth time.

Congress is busy finding its lost ground, while BJP has been dreaming of gaining power in Delhi for 27 years.

AAP vs BJP: Main contest

The main contest in Delhi's electoral arena is believed to be between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP. Congress has not been able to win a single seat in the last two assembly elections. On the other hand, the BJP has put in all its strength to win the election this time.

The BJP has brought many big leaders and Union ministers to campaign to make the lotus bloom in Delhi. At the same time, the AAP government is seeking votes from the public on the basis of its 10 years of work and welfare schemes.

Will the picture change this time?

Who will capture power in Delhi will be clear on February 8. While the Aam Aadmi Party is full of confidence to maintain its strong hold, the BJP and the Congress are trying hard at their own level.

It will be interesting to see whether Arvind Kejriwal will be able to convert his hat-trick of victory into the fourth time, or the BJP will be able to end its long exile in Delhi.
