Budget Session / In an attempt to create a consensus before the budget, an all-party meeting was called on January 30.

Budget Session: The budget session of the Parliament is starting from 31 January. On February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the general budget for the financial year 2023-24. In view of the aggressive stand of the opposition on other issues including inflation and employment, full possibility of the budget session being uproar is being expressed. Meanwhile, sources are quoting that the central government is trying to build a consensus among political parties before the budget session. In such a situation, the government can call an all-party meeting on January 30, a day before the budget session.

Let us tell you that this year the budget session will start from January 31 and will run till April 6 in two phases. A total of 27 sittings will be held in the Parliament during the budget session. After a break of about a month, the second phase of the budget session will begin on March 12 and will continue till April 6. President Draupadi Murmu will address the joint sitting of both the Houses on January 31. On this day the Annual Economic Survey for the financial year 2022-23 will be presented. The very next day, on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the general budget.

The session will be held in the old Parliament House

For the last few days, there was a hot discussion that the joint address of the President would be held in the new Parliament House on the first day of the budget session to be held this time. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has put an end to all the speculations. Om Birla has informed by tweeting that the work of the new Parliament House is still going on. In such a situation, the President's address will be held on the first day of the budget session in the old Parliament House itself.
