Meerut Kanwar Accident / In Meerut, 5 kanwariyas died, 16 got scorched due to high tension line of kanwariyas.

Kawad Yatra 2023: Kavadis, who were bringing water from Haridwar, came under the grip of 11 thousand volt high tension line. In the accident, 5 Kavadis were killed, while 16 people got scorched. The JE of the Electricity Department has been accused of causing the accident. It was told that the JE gave wrong information to the Kavadis to cut the line. The Kavadis were bringing water from Haridwar, during which the accident happened.

According to the information, the Kavad with DJ came in the grip of 11 thousand volt line. There were 16 Kavadis in the Kavad with DJ. All were bringing Gangajal from Haridwar to Raoli Chauhan village of Meerut. So far the death of 5 people has been confirmed. More than 2 dozen people have been injured. The injured have been admitted to different hospitals in Meerut. It is a matter of Bhavanpur police station area of Meerut. It is being told that the death toll may increase.

There was no line shutdown, the electricity department was accused of negligence

People say that the JE of the Electricity Department told that the line has been shut down. The villagers alleged that the electricity department had not shut down the line, they say that the accident happened due to the negligence of the electricity department. People say that no government ambulance came for an hour after the accident, nor was there any immediate help from the administration. People say that if there was timely help from the ambulance and the administration, lives could have been saved.

How did the accident happen

Meerut DM told that some people of Raoli Chauhan village of Bhavnapur police station were returning to their village after taking water from DJ Kawand. At around 8.30 a part of their DJ Kawand touched the 11 KV line near the village. So far 5 people have died in the accident. 10 serious people injured in the accident have been admitted to Anand Hospital in Meerut.
