Petrol-Diesel Price: In the second meeting of CM Bhajanlal Sharma's cabinet, a decision has been taken to reduce the price of petrol diesel. The government has reduced VAT by 2 percent. Due to reduction in VAT, the rate of petrol will be reduced by 1 rupee 40 paise to 5 rupees 30, the rate of diesel will be reduced by 1 rupee 34 paise to 4 rupee 85 paise. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that till now the rates of petrol and diesel were different in different cities of Rajasthan, the government has removed that discrepancy, now there will be the same rate in every district. Currently, in the district where the rates of petrol and diesel were higher than before, more money will be lost, whereas in the district where the rates are lower, less money will be lost. Currently, the rate of diesel at Indian Oil's petrol pump in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is Rs 93.72 per liter and the price of petrol is Rs 108.48 per liter.

Prices will be applicable from 6 am tomorrow

Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said that the reduced prices on petrol and diesel will come into effect from 6 am on Friday. This will put a burden of Rs 1500 crore on the state government.

In fact, on March 10 and 11, petrol dealers had gone on strike demanding reduction in VAT in the state. Also gave an ultimatum of three days to the government.

Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees increased by 4 percent. The state government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of employees by 4 percent. It is noteworthy that recently the Central Government had increased the dearness allowance. After this the state government also took this decision. This will put a burden of Rs 1639 crore on the state government. The state government has increased dearness allowance from 46 to 50 percent.

There was a strike of petrol pump operators in Rajasthan due to two reasons.

First reason: There was 31.04 percent VAT on petrol in Rajasthan. Besides, road development cess of Rs 1.5 per liter is also being collected.

Similarly, there was 19.30 percent VAT on diesel. At the same time, cess of Rs 1.75 per liter is being charged on it. Rajasthan is among those states where the highest tax is being charged on petrol and diesel.

Second reason: The second major reason for the strike was the cheapness of petrol and diesel in the neighboring states of Rajasthan. In some states, there may be equal or more VAT on petrol and diesel than in Rajasthan, but the problem for Rajasthan was that petrol and diesel were much cheaper in the neighboring states of Rajasthan than here.

VAT is also very low there. This is the reason why vehicles coming from any corner of Rajasthan were being filled with petrol from neighboring states. Due to this, petrol pump operators of Rajasthan were incurring losses.

The rates are much lower in Rajasthan's neighboring states Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. While petrol was available cheaper by Rs 16, diesel was available cheaper by Rs 11.

Compared with Punjab, in the districts of Rajasthan bordering Punjab, there was a difference of Rs 13 to 16 in the price of petrol and Rs 8 to 11 in diesel. Compared to Haryana, the price of petrol was Rs 12 to 13.50 and diesel was Rs 4 to 5.50. Compared to UP, there was a difference of Rs 11 to 12.70 in petrol and Rs 3 to 5 in diesel. Compared to Gujarat, there was a difference of Rs 12 to 14 per liter on petrol and Rs 2 to 3.5 per liter on diesel. Compare Delhi, there was a difference of Rs 11 to 12.50 in petrol and Rs 4 to 5 in diesel.
