Indian Army: Indian Army is one of the most powerful armies in the world. Now the army has made another big increase in its capacity. The Army Aviation Corps on Wednesday signed a contract for 25 new ALH helicopters. Along with this, the Indian Army is also forming its new ALH Dhruv combat helicopter squadron in Jodhpur on March 15. This squadron will significantly increase its combat capabilities in the western desert area.

Dhruv can play many roles

The Defense Ministry on Wednesday signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to acquire 25 new ALH Dhruv helicopters for the Indian Army. The ALH Dhruv Mk III UT (Utility) helicopter is designed for search and rescue, troop transport, internal cargo, reconnaissance/casualty evacuation. Defense Ministry officials have said that this helicopter has proved its performance in high altitude areas like Siachen Glacier and Ladakh.

A total of 34 helicopters will be purchased

The Defense Ministry has signed two contracts for the acquisition of 25 Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Dhruv MK III for the Indian Army and 09 for the Indian Coast Guard at a combined value of Rs 8073.17 crore. This deal of the Indian Army is being considered an important step towards indigenization and defense manufacturing.

Squadron of Apache helicopters also ready

The Army Aviation Corps of the Indian Army has also raised its first squadron of Apache attack helicopters in Jodhpur on March 15. Indian Army officials have said that the unit's first helicopter is expected to arrive from the US in May this year. Let us tell you that the Indian Army has signed a contract to buy six Apache helicopters from America. The Indian Air Force has already acquired 22 of these American combat helicopters.
