India / Kejriwal govt to give Rs 5 lakh to families of those who died due to lack of oxygen in Delhi

The Delhi government will provide compensation up to Rs 5 lakh to the families of those Kovid-19 patients who died due to lack of oxygen. This amount will be in addition to the previously announced compensation of 50,000 to the families of those who died due to Kovid-19 infection.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has formed a committee of six doctors to prepare a compensation outline. The committee will decide the framework on the basis of which a maximum compensation of Rs 5 lakh will be given. He shall have the right to examine any document relating to the oxygen supply, stock and storage of the hospital concerned. This committee will send its report to the Principal Secretary (Health), Delhi on a weekly basis.

Committee to investigate the case of patients who lost their lives due to lack of oxygen

The Delhi government has formed a six-member committee to evaluate the cases of patients who lost their lives in the capital recently due to lack of oxygen, for granting compensation. This information is given in an official order issued on Thursday. According to this order, the committee will examine whether oxygen was being used properly in the hospital as per rules.

Earlier this month, 12 patients, including a senior doctor, died due to lack of oxygen at Batra Hospital in Delhi. Similarly, on April 24, 21 Kovid patients died in Jaipur Golden Hospital. Meanwhile, cases of Kovid-19 increased rapidly in the capital and there was a severe shortage of oxygen.
