In the midst of the rising political temperature regarding the upcoming local body elections in Rajasthan, former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas has launched a fierce attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Speaking in Jaipur, the senior leader issued a direct challenge to the ruling party, stating that if the BJP decides to field candidates who were formerly with the Congress but betrayed the party, he would reveal explosive information that would cause significant distress to the BJP leadership. Khachariyawas emphasized that he has several such metaphorical bombs ready to be detonated at the right time, specifically if the BJP makes the mistake of rewarding those he termed as traitors.
Stance on Congress Defectors and Party Loyalty
During an interaction with the media on Sunday, Pratap Singh Khachariyawas adopted an aggressive posture regarding the return of leaders who had left the Congress to join the BJP. He clarified that while the party might welcome back those who wish to return, they shouldn't harbor any expectations of receiving election tickets. He argued that those who abandoned the Congress during its most challenging times and committed acts of betrayal don't deserve priority. According to him, giving tickets to such individuals would be a grave injustice to the dedicated party workers who have consistently struggled and remained loyal to the Congress ideology. He stated that his objective isn't merely to defeat the BJP but to uphold purity and principles in the realm of politics.
Allegations of Corruption and Rising Inflation
The former minister also raised serious concerns regarding the economic situation in the state and the country. He pointed out that within just one month, the price of sugar has increased by 25 rupees per kilogram, which is directly impacting the kitchens of common citizens. He demanded that the government explain the reasons behind this sudden hike and identify who is benefiting from it. Khachariyawas further leveled serious allegations of large-scale corruption in the ethanol sector, specifically naming Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. He claimed that while Gadkari has earned substantial wealth through this, he's now attempting to distance himself by stating he has nothing to do with ethanol. Khachariyawas reminded the government that inflation has historically been a decisive election issue, noting that whenever sugar prices have surged, governments have fallen. He warned that the Modi government would also have to face the consequences of this trend.
Suppression of Opposition and Government Conduct
Khachariyawas accused the BJP of lowering the political discourse and attempting to suppress the voice of the opposition. He cited a recent incident where the Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully and State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra were allegedly prevented from entering a school for an inspection. He mentioned that even when 70 MLAs of the opposition attempted to visit, they were blocked, and members of other parties are being subjected to attacks. He criticized the Bhajanlal government for adopting what he described as the language of sticks and bullets (lathi-goli), warning that such an approach would backfire on the BJP. He concluded by stating that there is no place for violence in a democracy and that if the BJP relies solely on police power to conduct politics, it will prove to be a costly mistake, as Congress workers aren't intimidated by such tactics.
