The auto rickshaw was overtaking the truck near the river when the truck overturned on it. Gyanendra Mishra, his mother and wife and daughter were sitting in the auto rickshaw. Gyanendra Mishra's mother Bantana Devi Mishra, wife Nirmala Mishra and daughter Ritu Mishra, including the driver Lakhpati, died on the spot after falling on the truck, auto rickshaw. Along with the women, Gyanendra Mishra of the family was also in the auto rickshaw who suffered serious injuries.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has condoled the untimely death of four civilians in a road accident at Amarpatan in Satna district.
