Hyderabad. Will you believe that there is a village in India where people do not buy or sell milk. If anyone is in need, milk is provided to him free of cost. Even the villagers have no idea of the cost of one liter of milk. If you do not believe this, then we tell that this custom has been going on in Ganjihalli village of Andhra Pradesh for years.

There are 4750 people living in Ganjihali village of 1100 families of Gongandla mandal of Kurnool district. There are 120 cows and 20 buffaloes here. Their owners produce about one thousand liters of milk every day. The special thing is that this product is not sold to dairy or people. Also the villagers don't even buy it. Here milk is given without any payment. Villagers have been following this rule for years.

40 year old story

About four decades ago there lived a big sahib in the village. There is also a dargah named after him. Bade Saheb used to get milk free of cost from Nagi Reddy of the village. Once his son Hussain Sahab went to Reddy's house to get milk with a bowl in his hand, but he could not get milk due to the death of the cow. When he came to know about this, the elder sahib asked Hussain sahib to bring milk from some other house in the village.

However, he did not get milk from any house due to everyone's refusal. It is said that after this he gave a life donation to the dead cow of Nagi Reddy. He had said that the villagers should not sell or buy milk and it should be given free of cost to all the people. Cursed that families who do not follow this advice will be ruined. Bade Saheb also said that no one should kill a cow or damage their food.

Some villagers say that families who did not follow these rules were financially broken. Every family in the village follows this rule. The people of the hotel or tea shop in the village have to buy milk from other villages for business.
