New Delhi : Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair has been arrested by Delhi Police for hurting religious sentiments. Mohammad Zubair, arrested by the Cyber ​​Unit of the Special Cell of Police, runs a fact-checking news website and is very active on social media. Recently, the name of Mohammad Zubair also came up in the famous case of Nupur Sharma. Nupur, who became the reason for the outrage of Muslims all over the world over the controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad, had made many serious allegations against him.

Nupur Sharma, a former spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), made a comment about Prophet Mohammad in a TV debate show. Violence took place in many parts of the country in protest against this, and many Islamic countries also expressed their displeasure. Nupur, suspended from the BJP, had named Mohammad Zubair for the controversy over her statement. He accused him of misrepresenting his statement and even said that if anything happens to him, then Mohammad Zubair will be responsible. Nupur Sharma had also complained to the Delhi Police through Twitter. Apart from this, Zubair has been accused many times of false news and one-sided fact-checking.

Arrest in separate case

However, the arrest of Mohammad Zubair is not linked to Nupur Sharma's case. Mohammad Zubair is accused of hurting religious sentiments. He was booked under IPC sections-153 (acts likely to cause disturbance to the atmosphere and cause nuisance) and section-295 (insulting an object considered sacred by any society). Zubair was called for questioning in the case, after which he was arrested.

According to the duty officer, he was monitoring when he saw that Hanuman Bhakt whose Twitter ID @balajikijai had shared a tweet of Mohammad Zubair which contained objectionable things. It was tweeted from Zubair's account that Honeymoon Hotel before 2014 and Hanuman Hotel after 2014. A photo of the hotel's sign board was also put up, in which the honeymoon hotel was shown in the Hanuman Hotel photo. Devotee @balajikijai Twitter ID shared this and wrote that Hindus have been insulted by comparing Hanuman ji with the word honeymoon, he is celibate. Therefore, action should be taken on this, such tweets were found to create hatred in the society, taking action on which the police registered an FIR against Zubair under IPC 153A and 295.
