Weather Report | The sweltering heat in the national capital on Friday kept people upset with the maximum temperature settling at 37.7 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal. India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information. According to the department, the minimum temperature here was recorded at 27.1 degrees, which is two degrees above normal. According to him, the relative humidity here ranged between 81 and 49 percent.

The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and thundershowers on Saturday. "The sky will be generally cloudy with light rain and thundershowers," said a department official. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 36 and 27 degree Celsius respectively.

He said that Delhi and its adjoining areas did not receive any significant rainfall in August as well and in September there has been little rain so far and there is no chance of good rains for the next five days. Meteorologists have predicted below normal rainfall in some parts of northwest India in September.

According to the System of Air Quality Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the air quality in the city remained in the 'moderate' category on Friday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 123 at 9 am. AQI between zero and 50 is 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor' and 401 to 500. Beach AQI is considered 'severe'.
